My little brown dog was stolen from outside my front door near Kenwill Drive. She’s about 12 years old and needs medication. She has a white chest and a tattoo in her ear. Please bring her back. She is my shadow and I am devastated at her loss.

BOUQUET To the nice red-bearded fellow who assisted me with the flat tire on my car at Cliff McNabb Arena. I really appreciated your help.

BEEF To the elementary school that has banned the outdoor game four square. The kids love it, it gets them moving, learning how to play together, and the school doesn’t allow kids to play it. No explanation to kids or parents. Let them have fun.

BOUQUET To everyone making an effort (when possible) to buy Canadian. Thank you.

BEEF I was raised to treat people the way that they treat me. Have respect and know the consequences to the people you are affecting by the decisions you make. We should now buy only made-in-Canada products or from other countries (nothing from the U.S.A) and only from Canadian-owned businesses.

BOUQUET To those who pass on shopping at the big box store. The Canadian store sells products for the same high prices.

BEEF With the U.S. threatening annexation, where are all the ‘freedom-fighting’ convoyers? Your silence is deafening.

BOUQUET I was riding my bike coming up from Dickinson Road onto Lantzville Road, taking the corner a bit too fast and wide and my shoulder grazed the telephone pole and knocked me off my bike. I am a senior citizen, and though I was not hurt, it took me a while to get the bike off me and get up. In the meantime four cars stopped to see if I was OK. Lovely, concerned people of Lantzville, thank you.

BEEF To people who use the lab. It is an American company and our hospital is purely Canadian. Support Canada.

BOUQUET To whomever removed the supposed ‘freedom mural,’ thank you so much. That symbol of a fringe group who do not represent 99 per cent of Nanaimo needed to go.

BEEF To people who line up at the lab well before they open on the weekends. If you have the weekdays to do this, be considerate and leave the weekends for those who don’t have flexible schedules.

BOUQUET To the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 29 Ladysmith for receiving the emergency management exemplary service award for search and rescue volunteers.

BEEF To the city. Excellent letter regarding ‘nefarious’ spending of $1.8 million of taxpayers’ money for design work for the new city works yard. As the letter writer mentioned, three times the AAP failed and these council members still don’t get it. Whenever/if ever this happens, the city yard might be at a different location.

BOUQUET To the staff at Paris Jewellers especially Sabhra. I found the most beautiful engagement ring. You made me feel so special and joined in on my excitement. Second time purchasing at the store and both times I had wonderful customer service.

BEEF To the U.S. president. He can’t annex Canada no matter what he says, because then he would have to fight the U.K. crown since no federal government can be formed here without their expressed approval, for King Charles is still the head of state of Canada.

BOUQUET Thank you to Danielle at LifeLabs for your kind and professional care. Your skills with a needle are excellent. A bouquet to all the hard-working phlebotomists, thank you for all you do.

BEEF To whomever goes online and books their February winter holiday – stop clicking ‘delivery.’

BOUQUET To Shane at Overkill Automotive. Where honesty and quality service collide in a fireball of awesomeness.

BEEF To the people at the concert at the theatre. They have large signs up about not wearing any scents but some women seem to bathe in it. You also aren’t supposed to record any of the bands but you see cellphones all over.

BOUQUET To our three-year-old son’s swim instructor Quinton. He’s so patient and great with the kids. Thank you.

BEEF While it would be nice if our governments could afford to build taxpayer-subsidized housing for everyone, including newcomers to Canada, it simply isn’t affordable. Instead, our federal government should scale back immigration to the level of new housing being built. Everyone applying to move to Canada should be made aware of the cost of housing.

BOUQUET To the bureaucrat who included an exclusion for dog waste bags in the single-use plastic bag regulations. Otherwise we would need a lot of bouquets.

BEEF To the beefer who beefed about my beef regarding the $1,000 grocery rebate (bribe) or lack thereof. I’m not beefing because I didn’t get my own tax dollars back, I’m beefing because this particular socialist government always offers handouts in exchange for votes.

BOUQUET Gratitude to Kari in CT scan at NRGH. Your care, compassion and understanding of one very anxious patient was so appreciated.

BEEF and bouquet together. Beef to my wife. She doesn’t let me speak. Bouquet to my husband for being quiet so I can speak.

BOUQUET To Doug, who with his eagle eye noticed we were sold illegal cigarettes from a neighbour. It’s your attention to detail that serves our communities so well, protecting us from everything from drugs and tobacco sold illegally and crime on our streets.

BEEF To the multiple campers who think it is appropriate to park in front of houses in the south end. Especially Irwin Street. Have some respect. So sick of seeing a different camper every night, and very sick of having no parking spot in front of my own house because these campers. I’ve never wanted to move so badly in my life.

BOUQUET To whoever brought my kitty that got hit by a car and killed in to the Central Island Veterinary Emergency Hospital. The kind folks there were able to scan Lady Lemon’s microchip and call me so I could come and get her body and find out what happened. Thanks so much for your kindness.

BEEF To all noisy motorcycles. Here we go again, the weather warms and the circling cycles rev up to go nowhere, fast and loud. You literally destroy anywhere you are with noise decibels that are most likely illegal and most decidedly inhumane. Your excuse about saving lives is bogus and you know it. You are simply selfish.

BOUQUET To my husband who says: If we change the hour forward in spring to half an hour instead, and leave it like that, we would never need to change the clock again.

BEEF My little brown dog was stolen from outside my front door near Kenwill Drive. She’s about 12 years old and needs medication. She has a white chest and a tattoo in her ear. Please bring her back. She is my shadow and I am devastated at her loss.

BOUQUET To the caregivers, nurses, doctors, volunteers, paramedics, support groups. So many to thank as we took the journey to life’s end on this level. All the people who were involved with my wife Marnie as she battled her cancer to care and befriend and watch over her and love her, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Thank you for all you do with love, compassion and professionalism.

BEEF To the attention-seeker neighbour who has the will to smirk and give us the fingers. You will be more successful in life if you focus your energy in a positive way. Learn to manifest.

BOUQUET To the very kind people at VIU’s hairdressing and esthetics program. They did a huge favour for me when I was very flustered and running late to present at a class one morning last week. Their kindness saved the day for me and it is very much appreciated.

BEEF What an erosion of our democracy mayor and council have created by not listening to the citizens of Nanaimo who voted no to the proposed $90-million upgrades to the city works yard on three separate occasions and now council is planning to go ahead with it anyway. Why isn’t that kind of money being spent on more urgent agendas like helping seniors, veterans, disabled and low-income people?

BOUQUET To Shane at Mid-Island Towing. A very challenging job with slopes, angles, tight spaces and a locked steering wheel. Shane figured everything out.

BEEF to all the greedy gas stations in Nanaimo. Oil prices are down, carbon taxes are being removed and yet Nanaimo gas stations still increased the price at the pump by 13 cents a litre. Really?

BOUQUET To all the hard-working staff at Thrifty Foods in Nanaimo for their help in identifying Canadian products and especially for displaying a lot of non-U.S. produce to choose from.
