Beef to all of the people who walked and drove by outside of the coffee shop when my eight-months-pregnant niece tripped and fell on the curb. She injured both her knees badly. She struggled back on her feet with no help. We are grateful baby is OK.

BOUQUET To Bill at Progressive Landscaping. Your dedication to making our stone patio so beautiful is so appreciated.

BEEF To all the restaurants that have the music blasting. Music is great. But does it have to drown out even conversation at your table?

BOUQUET To Nigel M. at Canadian Tire who had a mechanic instantly inspect a recent tune-up and did repair at no cost to us.

BEEF Why are you idling in the parking lot? You are impacting our children’s future so stop making excuses. And if you don’t care, be prepared for social ridicule.

BOUQUET To Jessie, our old apartment manager. It’s been just over a year since you left and you are very sadly missed by all. Your beautiful garden is gone. Hope you are doing great; you were the best.

BEEF To the ridiculous strata fees charged to owners of townhouses, patio homes etc. Hundreds of dollars charged per unit for street cleaning, snow removal and lighting – outrageous.

BOUQUET To two people who recently gave me a compliment throughout my day. I have been depressed and it was nice to receive a genuine compliment. Thank you to the lady who called me an angel and to the other who said I rocked my grey hair.

BEEF To the city and highway department, please reduce speed on Stewart Avenue. It is a residential street and very dangerous for pedestrians. Put flashing lights at crosswalks. Too often cars do not stop.

BOUQUET to Shawn at the Country Club Save-On-Foods for your wonderful customer service. You always brighten my day.

BEEF To people who put young children in shopping carts without strapping them in. The sound of a skull hitting the cement floor is something that one never forgets.

BOUQUET To the happy lady who tried to tease me in the RBC lineup. You turned my day to a much better mood, back to myself after a bad start to the day.

BEEF To users of gas-powered leaf blowers, emitting proven hazardous air pollutants in our neighbourhoods, and also a noise polluter. Ban them.

BOUQUET Kudos to all the cute little Nanaimo fiddlers at the Port Theatre recently. I did not know there were 52 talented kid fiddlers here in Nanaimo and you all made us feel so proud of you. This old person did a jig all the way home.

BEEF To all the bouquet writers who praise companies for simply doing their jobs properly or providing the service they’re supposed to.

BOUQUET To Wayne, a nice young gentleman at Home Hardware at Brooks Landing for his very diligent help to the customers, it doesn’t matter what. Thank you.

BEEF To the lady who picked up her dog’s excrement from my lawn with the doggy bag and left her bag on my front lawn. Please take your bag with you.

BOUQUET Thank you to the employee at Great Canadian Oil Change in the north end. Your honesty saved me an oil change and filter change, not needed as requested by my car dealership. I will recommend you and your company.

BEEF To the beefer who blindly complained about buying “junk” from China. The Canadian companies imported it and make money while Canadian people buy it and save money. There is quite a lot of fancy stuff made in China in the department store. Go have a look and buy it. I respect people without prejudice.

BOUQUET Thank you to Central Island Heating and Refrigeration for fixing the fridges at the 7-10 Club and not charging us.

BEEF To all of the people who walked and drove by outside of the coffee shop when my eight-months-pregnant niece tripped and fell on the curb. She injured both her knees badly. She struggled back on her feet with no help. We are grateful baby is OK.

BOUQUET To the pain clinic in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Thank you to Dr. Pariser and all nurses and staff. Thank you for removing my pain and bringing back my happiness in living. We are so fortunate to have this in our community.

BEEF To the taxi driver, who took an old sick man the long way home from the hospital to his home.

BOUQUET To Geoff and Trish for guiding 48 local, talented teens, children and adults in a sold-out Fiddelium concert at the Port Theatre. What an inspiring fiddle kitchen party. Kudos to you both.

BEEF To the local government and the composting facility. Welcome to Nanaimo; what a disgusting odour that greets our visitors and residents. I personally will be putting my compostables into the regular garbage until this situation is rectified.

BOUQUET Thank you to Tim who drives for AC Taxi, for going above and beyond to help a stranger. Because you did what you did we were blessed to have more time with our loved one and he was able to pass peacefully. So again thank you so much. We appreciate you more than you will ever know.

BEEF To those senior employees with a full pension from a previous employer who take jobs from those who are trying to raise a family and make ends meet.

BOUQUET To the kind and helpful lady who found my notepads on the ground in the Country Club Centre parking lot and put them on my windshield – but the best part is she also saw my lottery tickets blowing away and helped me chase after them upon my return to the car. Thank you so much.

BOUQUET Thank you to the kind lady who paid for the additional postage required for my two photo mailers.

BOUQUET To the gentleman who continued cutting the invasive broom around Linley Valley Gyro Park and pathway after the Broombusters event. I found out that he doesn’t even live in the neighbourhood. Thank you, really appreciate your efforts.

BOUQUET To David’s Tea. I appreciate you going above and beyond when my Thermos cracked. I will definitely continue to shop and support a store that cares about their customers.

BOUQUET To Paul and his fellow staff at Hearthstone Bakery for the warm reception upon returning to the Island and for helping usher in the summer season with your ‘s’more’ Nanaimo bars.

BOUQUET To the Nanaimo Broombusters for their phenomenal volunteer effort to remove broom in our parks.
