B.C.’s former premier leaves on a losing note

It is not that you won, it is how you won that is in question

To the editor,

Re: Clark’s resignation will impact B.C. legislature, Aug. 1.

Why do people say Christy Clark won an election? It is not that you won, it is how you won that is in question. Our present electoral system is such that a party with the most financial backing is the one that will win, be they good or bad.

To sell political favours in exchange for campaign money is morally unethical by common accepted standards. To back an unethical party is to put your own moral standards up for question.

Christy Clark brazenly flaunted the fact to the whole world that her political favours were for sale to the highest bidder. Get rid of the legislation that allows big money to buy votes, and you will get honest politicians and fair elections. Many good Canadians fought and died for this privilege.
