B.C. needs cleaner energy

Climate change is an issue, and we need to be concerned about changing weather patterns.

Climate change is an issue, and we need to be concerned about changing weather patterns and effects, and overuse, waste and pollution of water, particularly by industries such as mining and liquefied natural gas fracking. With California running out of water, protecting useful farmland that would be flooded by the proposed Site C dam, would benefit British Columbians, who need to grow their own food with clean water.

As for the Ontario Liberal gaffe, the government did not consult the people where they were going to place an energy plant, and had to change location at great expense, to placate residents. Hydro costs there can also be attributed to installation of the smart meter grid.

Bottom line, though, is it rational to pollute and destroy our environment, instead of increase our use of renewable energy?

The premiers of Ontario and Quebec have agreed to look at some form of carbon tax or cap and trade. This is because of concern of the amount of carbon emitted into our atmosphere by burning fossil fuel. The new premier of Alberta is considering some form of pricing on carbon emissions. B.C. already has a tax on carbon because of the same concern – climate change.
