December 22, 1924 - July 27, 2019
Yvonne was born in Hungary on December 22, 1924 and immigrated with her family to Nanaimo in 1930. She grew up here, attended school, and in 1947 while working at Nash Hardware, met Harold. They married in 1949, built a home on Victoria Road and had two children, Gordon (1952) and Susan (1955). In 1966 they built another new home on Meredith Road. Life in Nanaimo was vegetable and rose gardens, picnics, trailering, fishing and excellent Hungarian cooking and baking. You never left her kitchen hungry! Yvonne loved her work as a long distance telephone operator and upon retirement in 1984, there were motor-home vacations in Alberta, Arizona and California, two trips to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska cruises.
Harold and Yvonne became proud grandparents, first with Steven (1984) then Christopher (1986). They moved to Huntsfield Green in Langley in 2001 where together they lived busily and happily. Sadly, in May of 2016 Harold passed away. Yvonne moved to Shannon Oaks in Vancouver in September 2016 where again she made special friends. She became a proud great grandmother on January 31, 2019 when Steven and Meghan welcomed Griffin to her family. Yvonne is pre- deceased by brothers Nicholas, Julius, and Steve.
At 1:00 pm on November 26, 2019 the day of their 70th wedding anniversary, the ashes of Harold and Yvonne will be laid to rest beside Yvonne's parents, Susanna and Julius Moricz at the Nanaimo Cemetery on Bowen Road. May they rest together in peace.
