‘Yun’ Philomina

October 28, 1915 ~ January 22, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Yun. She was born in Humboldt, Sask. and moved to Victoria, BC in 1939 to join her husband, Tom, who was stationed at the Esquimalt Naval Base.

Yun was adventurous, generous and entertaining. She was an excellent bridge player, creative knitter, loved to read and enjoyed camping with her family and friends as well as many joyous excursions to Hawaii.

Thanks to Mom, we had the adventure of learning to ski on Green Mtn. and later on Mt. Washington. (Pretty gutsy learning to ski at 50, Mom) Her eye for fashion pleased many of her customers during her 27 year employment at Sears. In her later years, Mom still enjoyed dancing and traveling to Dixieland Jazz Festivals. She always said she’d rather dance than eat.

Yun is predeceased by her husband, Tom; her son, Tim; five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughters: Judy Finneron, Lauren (Bonnie) Brown; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a unique, loving individual who will be sadly missed, but certainly not forgotten.

Her family is grateful for the ‘loving care’ she received at Nanaimo Senior’s Village.

A private Celebration of Life will be held, by the family, at a later date.
