Winona is predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Art Baker, and seven brothers and sisters. She is sadly missed by her children: Don (Mary), Doug (Pam), Stevenson (Avon) and Helen and by her grandchildren and their families.
Born in Southey, Saskatchewan, her family came west to a new farm in Langley, BC, when she was five. The 'Coghlan Road' McLeods survived the Depression, drought, dust storms and poverty. She met her husband Art, an RCAF airman, at a war time dance and they married in 1945. Together, they raised their family in Nanaimo. Winona's passion was writing. She published eight books of poetry and won many awards. Her haiku books are archived in Tokyo, Yamagata, California and Montreal. Winona's life advice: Follow Your Bliss.
Celebration of Life at the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo, November 20, at 1 PM.
