William J. BOWIE

December 12, 2008

BOWIE, William J. (Bill)

July 8, 1924 - Dec. 12, 2008

Passed away peacefully at Wexford Creek Care Home with his loving wife, Rosalie (Roz), at his bedside. He was a many talented man and a proud Navy veteran. Bill had put his hand to raising sheep in Almonte, Ont. and was known for quality stock. He turned his hand to wood-working and painting while on the farm. Later he and Roz moved to Victoria where Bill worked as a window displayman putting his artistic side to good use. This artistic side came to full bloom when Bill and Roz became involved with the arts program at the Emily Carr House arts center. Bill was undeniable an artist in his own right with both water colours and oils being exhibited at various times. Always involved with his community, Ladysmith was the next town to be graced with his endeavors. Bill will be remembered by many in such organizations as the S.P.C.A. Bill's final years were spent in Nanimo where his neighbours have fond memories of Bill and Roz and their little dog, Donald, the last of many dogs to be "rescued" when in need of a good and loving home. Remembrances may be made to the S.P.C.A. or other charity of your choice.
