It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Howard Coughtry. Howard was born and raised in Nanaimo BC. Howard met his lifelong love Valerie Dyde in February 1962, they married in 1964 and then started a family and his working career. Howard worked as a finishing carpenter for A&B Construction, Debco Construction, Bollinger Installations, and finally School District 68 where he retired from in 1999.

In their retirement years, Howard and Val enjoyed taking their motorhome and spending time in Yuma Arizona and their summers were spent parked at the beach in Qualicum Bay with many friends. Howard loved camping, fishing and playing horseshoes. Howard was always tinkering with something. Howard is predeceased by his parents Gordon and Lilian (Johnson)Coughtry and leaves behind his wife of 55 years Valerie (Dyde) Coughtry, his son Darren and fiance Kim Young (with granddaughter Karissa Coughtry & step grandchildren Kianne & Riley Young) as well as his daughter Suzanne Coughtry.

Howard is also survived by his only brother Norman and his wife Judy Coughtry ,as well as his sister-in-law Lani and Husband Joe Medves. Howard will be greatly missed by his walking partner Shula the dog and his casino partner Lee Kyle, as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be no service by his request. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice or to Nanaimo BCSPCA Pet Rescue, 154 Westwood Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9R D69.
