William (Bill) Rice

August 15, 1930 - January 13, 2010

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Rice, Jan. 13, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Teresa; son and daughter-in-law Tony and Shawna and grandson, Will.

Bill was born in Wallasey, England and emigrated to Canada in 1964, finally settling in Nanaimo where Bill worked for 22 years at Harmac as a pipefitter. Bill was an avid soccer supporter and was a devoted volunteer for the Nanaimo Youth Soccer Association for many years, both as president and as a coach. After his retirement in 1995, Bill enjoyed travelling with Teresa, working on his beautiful stained glass projects, spending time with his family and cheering for Liverpool Football Club.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at his home, 5953 Waterton Drive, Nanaimo.

In lieu of flowers Bill’s family requests donations contributed to the B.C. Cancer Society.

Bill will be lovingly remembered for his generous nature, sense of humour and endless supply of jokes. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
