1939-2021 ~ Bill passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He peacefully passed at home with his loving wife Susan holding his hand.
Bill is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan; sons Scott (Sherry) and Andrew (Kristin); grandsons Lyle and Greg; brother Mike (Betty) as well as daughters, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Paul and Nettie, sister Hazel Holowachuk, and brother John.
Bill was born in Preeceville, SK in 1939, to parents Paul and Nettie Baron. In 1948, at the age of nine, Bill tragically lost both of his parents in car accident. His sister, Hazel, stepped in to raise him and his two younger siblings.
At a young age, Bill moved to BC, which quickly became his home. He worked numerous jobs and was forced to grow up quickly. He developed an interest in the heating business and knew he wanted to be self-employed.
He enjoyed his work and the relationships he had with his many long-time customers until his last day.
He had a love for playing cards, especially cribbage, with a good stiff drink of rye. Bill enjoyed many hobbies; including dirt biking, camping, playing with his dogs, and watching wrestling on TV, which he never missed. He was especially fond of his summer visits from his two grandsons, Lyle and Greg.
As the years went by, he began gardening and was especially proud of his tomatoes. Although Bill considered BC his home, he still had many family and friends in Saskatchewan who he would visit often. Bill loved putting off today what he could do tomorrow because, as he would often say, "Speed kills."
Following Bill's wishes, no formal service will be held. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.firstmemorialnanaimo.com
