Wilfried Otto Joseph Forster

June 6, 1931 – January 25, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Wilf. Dad was born and raised in Neuwied, Rhineland, Germany to Hedwig and Joseph Forster.
e immigrated to Canada in 1952 and his journey with his best friend (Schwager) Earl Meyer took him from Halifax to Vancouver Island.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dodie, his children, Hedy Thomas (Bruce), Grant Forster, Julie Kelly (Grant), Sherry Pagani (Roger), Della Dominy (Scott), and Troy Forster (Patti), 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also, his brother Uwe Forster (Ursla) in Germany, and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was extremely proud of his large family. He was a prominent member of the community in the 50s, 60s and 70s, serving as President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and running a successful Painting and Contracting business, which is still carried on today by his son Troy. Dad was also proud of the 17 painting apprentices he trained to receive their full certification.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Romaine, Dr. King, and the staff of Palliative Care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Cheers Dad, you will be greatly missed.
