It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of this amazing and wonderful man. He will be missed beyond measure and always hold a special place in our hearts.
Wilf is predeceased by his father, Les Coe (1978). Wilf leaves behind his wife Barbara, stepdaughter Lauren(Chris) and his granddaughter Makenna, his mother Mildred, his sisters Caroline, Nadine (Jim), and brothers Wayne (Sue) and Bill (Brenda), and many other family members and friends.
Wilf was born in Comox and grew up in Union Bay. Wilf started out as a logger working along side his family and then got interested in carpentry.
In 1980 he started his own company Evolution Homes and operated it successfully for 40 years. Not once did he have to advertise for business, as he was known for having such incredible workmanship and always doing the best job he could.
Although it is said that someone could be a jack of all trades and a master of none, Wilf was the exception. Wilf could build homes but he often designed them for his customers to ensure they would get exactly what they wanted. He could do the foundation work, framing, roofing, siding. He could do all the finishing work. The homes he built, the renovations he did, were absolutely beautiful and he always strived for perfection.
Not only could he build beautiful custom homes, he could do upholstery, sew, knit and fix most anything to do with cars. He loved his muscle cars and his Harleys. He enjoyed going to the quarter mile races in Seattle every summer and the last time he was very excited to meet John Force, shake his hand and get his autograph.
Wilf was always willing to help everyone and was often called on to help out as he had knowledge and expertise in so many areas. He was someone who was always busy, doing something for someone.
He was the best stepdad to Lauren and enjoyed the role although he took that over when she was already 15. And then 5 years later he become a grandpa "Papa" to Mak. He was a master at that too and enjoyed this family role. He also had a very special place in his heart for all the pets he and Barbara had, especially Leo.
Wilf has left us way too soon, much too young and so unexpectedly. He will be greatly missed.
No flowers please. A donation to BC Cancer Society in Wilf's memory would be wonderful.
Given Covid-19 restrictions, the family will not be holding a Celebration of Life until a later date.
