Shillington, (Warner) Jack
January 12, 1924 ~ September 20, 2012
Jack passed peacefully at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, in his 89th year.
Predeceased by son, Robert; Jack is survived by wife, Jessie; son, Warner Gary (Connie); daughters, Elva Darlene and Sharon Lynn VanderPutten (Chris); brother, Gary (Ingrid) and grandchildren, Warner Allan and Meeghan Shillington, and Jacob and Trevor VanderPutten.
Born in Davidson, Saskatchewan and schooled in Winnipeg, Jack enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and saw action as a Wireless Air Gunner from 1943-45. He moved west following the war and settled in Honeymoon Bay where he met Jessie McArthur. The couple wed in 1950, had four children and moved to Nanaimo in 1962 where Jack worked at Harmac until his retirement in 1989.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for all sports. He was a patient coach and mentor and a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 28, 2012, 1-3pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #256, 1630 East Wellington Road, Nanaimo (corner Bowen Rd.)
