February 21, 1934 – July 5, 2021
Verner Rueskov Nielsen, age 87, died at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital in Nanaimo, British Columbia on July 5, 2021. He was born in Odense, Denmark.
Moved to Calgary Alberta where he met and married Birthe Johansen. They were married for 46 years, and had four children. Birthe passed suddenly in 2008. Vern was devastated by her passing but did eventually move on to meet Margery Trimblett. They have spent the past 11 years together dancing and traveling.
Vern worked at Harmac Pulp and Paper Mill for 17 years from 1973 -1990. He served in the Danish military for a short time.
He is survived by his son, Peter Nielsen, and daughters, Judy Nielsen, Lena Nielsen, and Ja-Lynn McIntyre and his six grandchildren (Kayla, Payton, Krystal, Logan, Kianna and Kyle).
Vern was from a very large Danish family, 11 siblings in all. He is predeceased by: Hans, Elsa, Carl, and John. He is survived by siblings: Dagmar, Paul-Eric, Minna, Solveig, Lise, Lena, and Niels.
A celebration of Life will take place on: Saturday August 7, 2021 from 1pm – 5pm, At: The home of Judy Nielsen: 426 Calverley Place, Nanaimo, BC ** DROP IN **
