Verilyn, Verna Lee

Musician and piano teacher, died peacefully on Oct. 11, 2016 at Nelson Jubilee Manor. Born in Nanaimo on Feb. 12,1934, to Verna and Arvo Mackie, Verilyn is survived by daughter, Catherine D. Lee and sister, Dorothy (Alistair)Fraser, niece, Cynthia, nephew Alistair (Susi) and great-nephew, Finn, as well as many cousins.

Over the years, with her ARCT(Solo Performer’s), she taught countless piano students in Nanaimo, Vancouver and Surrey and prepared them for exams. She  accompanied choirs and many concert singers, played hymns at church,  was a clarinetist and pianist for the Nanaimo Symphony, completed  her BA (UBC) in voice and piano with Dr. Morris, Frances Adaskin and Robert Rogers, and was a certified Back to Basics Specialist. 

Her love of music will continue on through her family, students and friends.
