It is with great love and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Thea passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 20, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in North Vancouver, B.C., to Bob and Minnie Lindsay, Thea moved to Nanaimo when she was 9 months old and it is here where she lived her whole life with her husband Doug and family.
Thea met the love of her life in high school and romance quickly became marriage and not too long after, the arrival of their seven children. Together they built an incredible marriage and family where they instilled great values, respect, hard work, and love. Doug and Thea recently celebrated their 70th anniversary which shows the incredible bond the two of them have.
Thea was the most affectionate and caring person who valued family over everything. Family gatherings, special occasions, and holidays were always celebrated in the most loving thoughtful ways with an abundance of homemade cooking and that special Mom touch.
Along with raising a large family, Thea always made time for friendships and had many lifelong friends which she cherished dearly. Thea was loved by all that knew her.
As her family grew, Thea got involved in volunteering, bowling, curling, and 50 years of helping organize John Shaw High School reunions.
Eventually, Thea and Doug got a chance to travel and together they enjoyed and built incredible memories of the many trips all over the world with family and friends.
During her last few years, Thea lived in Nanaimo Seniors Village with her husband Doug and here too she touched the hearts of many.
She leaves behind her loving husband Doug, her children: Brian (Judy), Garry (Lea), JoAnne (Gary), Thea (Grant), Linda (Jim), Nancy (Dan), Alan (Monica), plus 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents, Bob and Minnie, sister Betty, and brother Bob.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at Nanaimo Senior village for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care.
Condolences and memories may be sent to memoriesofthea@gmail.com
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
A Celebration of Life is planned for mid-July.
Thank you, Thea, you have left an amazing legacy!
