Terrence John Geernaert

With great sadness we announce the passing of Terry Geernaert, a gentle, kind man.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Ginger, his son Cory (Debbie), son Kevin (Mark), daughter Teresa (Alan), 6 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters Betty-Lou and Linda, sisters in-law Irene and Isabel and brothers in-law Bob and Robbie.

Terry was born in Saskatchewan but moved to Nanaimo as a child. Terry spent the rest of his life on Vancouver Island. He worked in the forest industry and retired in 1999.

Terry loved family, travel, hockey, curling and fishing. Terry enjoyed over 30 years of salmon fishing in the Barkley Sound with Cliff, Rudy and John. Ginger canned hundreds of pounds of salmon and Ginger doesn't even like fish!

Terry and Ginger enjoyed many road trips down the Oregon Coast and to Arizona. They went on cruises to Alaska and through the Panama Canal; sun trips included Florida, Hawaii and Mexico. International travel took them to the Netherlands, the UK and Japan.

Terry enjoyed reading with a dog at his feet or in his lap. He loved the companionship of dogs and there were some great ones over the years.

Terry loved to be surrounded by family and friends who couldn't get enough of his stories and jokes.

Terry, with his sparkling blue eyes, was the life of the party!
