Sylvia Joan McGonigle (born July 1, 1938) passed away on July 26, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert McGonigle in 2000. She is survived by her three sons - Tim (Betty), Matt (Manda), Mark (Diane) - and two daughters Maureen and Jeanette (Jason). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren - Rob, Becky, Daniel, Annalee, Nyree, Jake, Mark, Cameron, Jessica, Jason, and Jasmine - and seven great-grandchildren.
Sylvia loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed her children and grandchildren most of all. She was an avid knitter and made baby outfits and blankets enjoyed by many. She was also well known for her baking - the best butter tarts in the world! She enjoyed a number of Alaskan cruises and having coffee with her friends. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness.
Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo on Thursday, August 2 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Cedar Memorial Gardens. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for refreshments at the Cedar Hall (across from the Cedar Memorial Gardens) following the interment.
