Sydney Raymond Garton
May 11, 1926 - April 24, 2016
Just shy of his 90th birthday, Ray peacefully passed away with his family by his side, after facing the challenges of living with Alzheimer's Disease for the last five years. Always a proud family man, he will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Pat, their three children Diane (Grant), Steve (Lisa), Lisa and four grandchildren Emily, Cameron, Matthew and Josie.
He was a sawsmith by trade and then worked in the saw mill industry traveling throughout the province for the next 35 years. Ray loved camping, boating and sailing with his family all over BC, salmon fishing, fly fishing, gardening, square dancing, round dancing, and traveling abroad. His wonderful sense of humor, his love of life and his commitment to his family and friends resulted in a life well lived and a man well loved.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Berwick on the Lake and Nanaimo Senior's Village. A celebration of life service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1:oo pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
