COOPER- Sydney Charles

In loving memory of Sid Cooper age 84, who passed away peacefully in the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Monday, April 9th 2007 following a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 4th, 1922 in Lousana, Alberta. He moved to the Peace River Country as a boy and made that his home for the next 50 years. He grew up on a homestead and moved into Dawson Creek where he met his wonderful wife, Garnet Tibbetts. They had a long and happy marriage together (59 years) and had four Sons and a daughter. Gary, Daryl, Blair, Brent and Kim. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his older sister Margaret (Peggy) Morrow of Nanaimo.

Sid was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all of his family. Sid was a hard working man who was dedicated to his family and work. He was a successful businessman and served terms on City Council and as a Mayor of Dawson Creek. He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, boating, and curling.

Sid and Garnet retired to Vancouver Island in 1986 where they spent many wonderful years together enjoying their acreage in Chemainus. After Garnet’s passing in 2002 he moved to Nanaimo where he spent his last years. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 16th, 2007 at Telford’s Funeral Home in Nanaimo, B.C. at 1:30 pm. Burial to follow in the Chemainus Cemetary.
