STEWART JAMES BURKE

On Tuesday, June 19 in his 58th year with this soul mate, Judy, by his side, Stewie left this physical plane and began the next part of his spiritual journey. Left behind to enjoy the many wonderful memories are his mom, sisters, brother, many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many many friends. Stew was a gentle man and a gentleman. He loved to laugh, enjoyed single malt scotch, baby back ribs and was a pretty decent cook. He was a fountain of esoteric knowledge and could discuss any topic intelligently and with passion and conviction. He was a big Canucks fan. He loved the Big Blue, too. Kids were naturally drawn to Stew's kind and gentle nature. He spent many happy hours with the kids playing badminton, mini-golf, and swimming. Stew's greatest love was the outdoors-the mountains and the ocean. He was an avid gardener. He loved to golf but he couldn't golf a lick. There were winters spent in Mexico and the hot summers down by the river. Stew's cancer was initially misdiagnosed. He suffered terribly and for a long time, as a result. But in true Stewie fashion, he rarely complained and continued to live his life as best he could. He was a man to be admired, loved and cherished. A fitting legacy, indeed. The family invites everyone, whether you knew Stew or not, to raise a glass in his memory. Good-night sweet Stew. " Death smiles at us all: all a man can do is smile back."
