Peacefully passed away after a brief battle with cancer at Port Alberni (hospital) on January 26, 2018 at the age of 63.
Born in Brampton, Ontario on November 27, 1954. He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Swackhamer, and mother, Kathryn Swackhamer (nee King), and son, Jarrett Swackhamer.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bonnie Swackhamer (nee Pengilley), and his two sons Paul Watson of Calgary, Alberta and Jason Swackhamer (Evalin) of Melbourne, Australia. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Deborah LaFreniere and Michelle Pengilley.
Steve was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his brother Douglas Swackhamer (Lynda) of Niagara Falls, Ontario and his sisters Christine Swackhamer of Toronto, Ontario and Theresa Swackhamer of Cottonwood, Arizona as well as many other nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
Also, he will be greatly missed by his loyal companion, Opie, his Italian Mastiff.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held at PLEASANT VALLEY SOCIAL CENTRE, 6100 Doumont Road, Nanaimo, on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
