February 23, 1947 - March 12, 2019
Stephen Hall Lewis- Stephen passed suddenly on March 12 in the arms of his beloved wife Wendy.
They shared a wonderful life on their acreage above Nanaimo, a piece of property Steve liked to call Magic Mountain. Steve is also survived by stepdaughters Amy and Meghan (Colin), granddaughters Terra, Emma and Ivy, his brother David, sister Lori and nieces Mariko, Sarah and Katie. Born in Albany, New York, he moved with his family to California as a boy. He earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees at the University of California. Stephen had a life-long love of the arts, an insatiable curiousity about the world and a delightful sense of humour.
He travelled much of the world with various performing artists before settling on Vancouver Island in 2003, where he worked at the Chemainus Theatre as Production Manager for 10 years.
After retirement, Steve remained active in the arts, directing and acting in plays at the Ladysmith Little Theatre and working occasional shifts at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. By request, no formal service is planned. A gathering of friends and family will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve's name to the S.P.C.A. would be welcomed.
