Stanley Thomas Chopik

Stanley Thomas Chopik passed away peacefully on October 30, 2008 at the Nanaimo General Hospital. Stan was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 9, 1932. He is predeceased by his parents William and Ivy and survived by his wife of 54 years Lillian (nee Koza), daughters Kathy, Karyn and Nancy; granddaughter Jennifer and three loving sisters Vivian, Betty and Dorothy.
Stan worked for Mobil Oil for 37 years. He started his family in Calgary, moved to Swift Current, Saskatchewan and retired to Nanaimo in 1991. He had a life long passion for learning in everything from photography (his first career), to earning his electronics apprenticeship, mastering karate and judo and in later years tackling classical guitar. Stan was a romantic at heart and wrote poetry his entire life, seeing the beauty in everything – a gift he has left to his family.
