WILKINS, Stanley Blaine

Beloved husband of Juanita (Poole) Wilkins was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on November 17, 1928 and passed away peacefully in the Nanaimo Regional Hospital on March 3, 2003. He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Eric Wilkins of Taber, Alberta. After 54 years of marriage, Stan is survived by his loving wife, Juanita, sons, Blaine and Wayne, daughters, Valerie (Helen Dempster) and Shelley (Lorne Wallace) and special granddaughter, Micalla; his brother-in-law Bill (Cathy) Poole of Bow Island, Alberta, his aunt Mary Blaine; cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be dearly missed by many good friends. Stan was an Employment Counsellor in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, retiring in 1989. Over the years he was active in curling, trapshooting, Ham Radio, Lions and Kiwanis clubs usually taking a key leadership role. He was an excellent carpenter, created beautiful computer cards, and especially liked to entertain family and friends at social gatherings with jokes and stories. After 40 years in southern Alberta and 31 years in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Stan and Juanita moved to Nanaimo, BC in 2000 to be closer to their family. Funeral service will be held at Brechin United Church, 1998 Estevan Road, Nanaimo, B.C. on Friday, March 7, 2003 at 3:00 pm. Cremation. Donations in Stan’s memory to Brechin United Church, Nanaimo - Memorial Fund; or the Cancer Society of B.C.
