Rodger, Clara

Sophia (nee Fjaagesund)

"One who was much loved"

Born in Chaplin, Saskatchewan. November 20, 1912 and went home to be with the Lord September 3rd, 2005. Her beloved husband Bob predeceased Clara in 1997 after 56 years of marriage. She will be cherished in memory by her daughters Fern (Les) Potter, in Victoria, and Faye (Jack) Foglietta in Nanaimo, grand-daughters Tiffany (Ken) Madden, and Meredith (Lee) Morris; grandsons Nick (Genevieve) Foglietta and Bob (Susanne) Foglietta and eight great grandchildren; Daniel, Andrew, Nicole, Gabrielle, Joseph, Jeremiah, Matthew, and Sloane. Clara was born on a homestead in Saskatchewan; she attended Teacher's College in Regina and taught in several "one room" prairie schoolhouses. While teaching in Ravenscrag Saskatchewan she met and married her dear husband Bob. After a few years they joined Bob's sister Fern and husband John Colwell on Valley Dairy Farm south of Nanaimo. Her life was devoted to her family and enriched by friendships of many in the district including those of the Cedar Activity Club and later, the Jonanco Club. Her friends among the congregation of the church were always a blessing in her life and she enjoyed new friendships after she moved to Berwick. The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of Berwick on the Lake for their kindness to us and loving, gentle care to our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, September 9th at 1pm at the First Baptist Church on Waddington Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon Bible Society.
