Shirley (Stadelbauer)
Born July 16, 1936. Shirley fought to stay until Spring, her favourite season, and passed away April 12, 2016. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Laura, and husband Alec Richmond, and by her partner John Comis. While some collect art, Shirley collected people in her life. She was a beloved member of many family circles – the Richmonds’, Simpsons’, Comis’, Desprez’, Clarks’, the Lunch Bunch and innumerable adopted friends. Shirley is survived by her daughter Mary (Ross) Desprez, grandniece Cassandra Carter, stepdaughter Page (Victor) Escallier, grandnephew Donny (Krista) Neumann, and her sisters, Catherine Taylor, Mary Malone and families. During her 28-year career as a school secretary in the Nanaimo District, Shirley was the front line smile for hundreds of elementary students at Brechin, Fairview and Georgia Avenue schools.
A Celebration for Shirley will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 2 PM at the Cavallotti Hall - 2060 E. Wellington Road, Nanaimo.
