SHIRLEY ANN BINNERSLEY

May 28, 2016

Binnersley, Shirley Ann

May 17, 1942 – May 28, 2016

Shirley passed away at Dufferin Lodge on May 28, 2016 after a lengthy 20-yr fight with cancer. She was pre-deceased by her brother Stan Bass and her sister Kay Blaine. She is survived by her husband Ted, sons Wayne (Teri) and David (Vicky) & their grandchildren Brianne, Jeremy, Derek, Cory, Brett and Jesse.

Shirley was born in Winnipeg on May 17, 1942 and moved to BC in 1955 graduating from St. Ann’s Business College in 1961. She was employed by the Dept. of Indian Affairs for many years. Her love of travel began when she flew to England, rented a car & explored the country on her own. She & Ted visited England & spent many vacations traveling through the U.S. & Canada in their truck & camper. Shirley also visited Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. She loved dancing, family get-togethers & was renowned for her Thanksgiving dinners – especially her pies. Her main passion was genealogy, a hobby that helped distract her when times were difficult with her health.

Shirley was a fighter, but regardless of how she felt she kept her humour & always had a smile for visitors. Shirley will be sorely missed, she has left us an inspiring legacy of love & courage. The family would like to thank the staff at Dufferin for exceptional care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Rest in peace, lovely lady.
