Sheila passed away peacefully April 19, 2022 in Nanaimo, BC. Sheila, also known as Nana is survived by her sister Patricia Harrison (Howard), son Wayne Dobinson (Patricia), daughter Janice Lamontagne (Dave), nephew Phil Grieveson (Kaza), granddaughter Siona Rounis (Bill), grandson Micheal Byrne & 4 beautiful great grandchildren Panagiota, Anastacia, Braeden & Bella whom she adored.
Sheila was born in Blackheath South London. At the age of 15 she joined the RAF to help WW2 effort. During this time, she met the love of he life Ed Dobinson and travelled to Canada by boat with other War brides to be with her husband on Gabriola Island. In true Sheila fashion she arrived in her heels, gloves, and hat to this little island.
Sheila and Ed went on to build the Grande Hotel on Gabriola and enjoyed hosting the many visitor's who walked thru the doors. Sheila became an avid gardener and exceptional cook and hostess. Ed and Sheila then moved to Nanaimo where Ed worked for BC Hydro and Sheila raised their two children.
Sheila was a proud member of the BC Hydro Power Pioneers where she enjoyed being with other spouses and retirees of BC Hydro. Sheila enjoyed their many social activities and especially being involved fundraising & other activities that supported local and provincial charities.
Sheila loved being a Great-Grandma and enjoyed the time with her great-grandkids whether it be attending special events or just having tea and conversations. Nana gave the best hugs and was always ready for a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family but we are grateful for all that she taught us and the memories she made with us to remember her always.

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you,
You taught us the love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might,
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just a wife, not just as a mother.
And now the time has come for you to rest,
So go in peace, you've earned your sleep.
Your love in our hearts we'll eternally keep.

The family would like to extend a thanks to all the staff at Wexford Creek for their care and love towards Sheila these past few years. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to an Arts or Children's Charity of your choice in her name.
