Sharon Gail Stewart (nee Lepage)

October 2,1935-March 19th, 2007

It is with great sadness we report that our Sharon has passed on from complications from cancer in her 72nd year. Survived by her husband of just short of 52 years, Robert (Bob); by sons David and Michael of North Vancouver, daughter Jennifer of Nanaimo; granddaughters Rebecca and Abigail of North Vancouver, and Michaela of Nanaimo, Lydia Blackman of Lantzville, Nancy Geschke of Edmonds, Washington, Ted MacCormac of Lions Bay,

Vanessa LePage of Toronto and Norma Lepage of Nanaimo. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, where she attended King George High School and UBC.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, Alfred and Madge Lepage. (nee Blackman) and her brother, Norman. Sharon was the granddaughter of William Nelson Lepage, the developer of Lepages glue.

Sharon was a long time teacher of typing and Pitman Shorthand at Malaspina College in Nanaimo and was a substitute teacher at many area schools.

She was so involved with the PTA at Lantzvilles Seaview School that the senior girls cup was named “The Sharon Stewart Cup”.

She was one of the first female members of the Kiwanis Club of Nanaimo and was chairman of the board of directors of Kiwanis Lodge during a period of great growth and building. She was a long time Sunday School teacher who believed that children should be taught the basics of living a spiritual, full life.

She will be greatly missed by all but will remain in our hearts. There was no funeral service by her request. Donations could be made in Sharon’s name to the charity of your choice.
