RUTH KATHERINE TINGLEY
February 13, 1926 – April 26, 2013
Ruth passed away suddenly at NRGH at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; 8 siblings, and best friends, Yvonne and Win. She is survived by her children: Austin Tingley (Virginia) New Brunswick, Elaine Foglietta (Larry) Nanaimo, Evelyn Ross (Gordon) New Brunswick, Ann Keller, Nanaimo, Carol Ranger, Nanaimo; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, her brother, George of Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Ruth was born in New Brunswick and moved to Nanaimo in 1973 with her husband and two youngest daughters. She loved taking care of her family, enjoyed designing and sewing her own clothing, working in her flower garden and is well known for her delicious cakes. Mom’s only requests were that we “behave ourselves and have fun.” We will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life, with refreshments to follow, will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 2pm at the German Cultural Centre, 71 Caledonia Avenue, Nanaimo. Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of donations, in Ruth’s name, to the BC Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
