Ruth Joyce McWhinnie
July 12, 1929 ~ July 24, 2011
After a brief illness Ruth passed away at Nanaimo General Hospital. Born and educated in Montreal, employed initially by RCA Victor, then Spar Division, responsible for building the Canadian Space Arm.
Ruth is survived by her long time friend Yae Suzuki, Nanaimo; her brothers Ross McWhinnie, Oakville; Alan McWhinnie, Nanaimo and her sister Marjorie Clark, Clarenceville, P.Q. nieces and nephews. Active since her retirement in 1989, Past President of the Woodgrove Senior Citizens Housing Society, Past President of Kiwanis Club Nanaimo “Sun Risers”, fully involved with activities in her church, Trinity United, Nanaimo.
Special thanks to doctors and nurses at Nanaimo Palliative Care Unit. A Memorial service is planned for August 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Trinity United Church, 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Living Waters Fund” Trinity United Church.
