Roy Gordon Thomas Irvine

February 22, 1933 – June 1, 2021
Roy Gordon Thomas Irvine was born on February 22, 1933 in Nanaimo B.C. and passed away on June 1, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Olly Irvine. He is also survived by his son Ralph and wife Betty-Rae Irvine, son Glenn and wife Janet Irvine, Grandchildren: Ryan (Linzi) Irvine, Sean Irvine, Melanie (Bryce) Griffin, Melissa (Caleb) Mason. Great grandchildren: Eilidh, Ross, Charlotte, Rebekah, Joshua, Levi, and Landon.
Also family members Jeanette Doyle and Carmen (Guy) Carpenter. Step-children Skip Sponek and Patti Slegg. Step-Grandchildren : Pam McKenzie, Kennan (Todd) Silva, John (Fiona) Sponek, Jennifer Slegg, Steven Slegg (Lindsay), Amy Dorie (Andrei) Step-Great-Grandchildren: Colton, Montana, Madison Noah, Hayley, Darren, Evan and Matthew.
Over the years, Roy worked for Shell Oil, Domans Lumber and Rutherford Mall. Later, Roy worked for Slegg Construction Materials where the staff and customers still remember and ask about him. He also served in the Nanaimo Volunteer Fire Department. Roy was an avid gardener and always willing to give gardening advice to all who asked. Roy was a friend to everyone and everyone’s friend.
Roy and Olly were members of the Ladysmith Yacht Club and had many happy years cruising on their boat, Key of Sea. Roy had many friends in the Cassidy Mobile Home Park, in particular, their close friend Karen Mullin whose help to them in the last few years has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.
The family would also like to mention neighbors Sharon, Christine, Diane & Dick, Gordie, Kenny & Dale, Sue & Lloyd, Dave and Bruce Ferguson, and all the residents of Cassidy Mobile Home Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kiwanis Lodge for their wonderful care. We would also like to thank Pastor Fraser who gave them spiritual guidance and friendship. Donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated to:
