Ronald Thomas Aitken

Ronald Thomas Aitken passed away suddenly, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family on the afternoon of November 23, 2015 in Nanaimo BC. He is survived by his 6 children, Rob, Keith, Mark, Carole (Phee), Debbie (Weiss), Les and their families, of whom he was so very proud.

He was an incredible athlete with a love of all sports and excelled at everything he did. From being the best fastball pitcher in BC at the age of 18, to being banned from the bowling league for a year because he was just that good.

Fortunate to retire at the age of 54 from a gratifying 38 year career at BC Hydro, he then pursued his passion for horse racing and being involved in the lives of his grandchildren. For many years he owned harness racers in Cloverdale and he loved treating his family to days in the Club House. He beamed proudly in photos taken in the Winner’s Circle.

He attended his grandchildren’s sporting events, extracurricular activities and wanted the best for them academically. From all the trips to Seattle for ball games and Disneyland vacations, we will cherish these memories forever and are so thankful for all of the time we had with you. We love you, and will miss you forever.
