Roger passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at the age of 74, at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born in Norwich, England in 1935, son of Wallace Robert Clarke and Gertrude Gladys (Wyatt) Clarke.

Having survived the blitz during World War II, he came with his parents and brother to Canada and lived for five years in London, Ontario, attending and graduating high school. In 1953 the family moved to Surrey, BC where he attended the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil Engineering.

Roger spent his working years on various engineering sites in western Canada including microwave, dam, bridge, highway and gas line projects. Settling on Vancouver Island with his family, he worked as a building inspector for the City of Nanaimo. Remaining active in his retirement years he enjoyed an extensive early morning paper route which he maintained for daily exercise.

He is survived by his wife, Orelle; sons: Bryan and Duane; four grandchildren; and brother, Norman.

There will be no service or funeral as per request.
