It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Owen Nielsen of Nanaimo B.C.
Rod leaves behind his beloved children Jason (Lisa, Chloe, Jenna), Kelly (Craig, Grace) and Daniel. In addition he leaves his sisters Sophy, Judy (Greg, Eric, Brig), his brother Bert (Sherry, Steve, Lauren), Sheryl Wager and many other extended family in Canada, Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
Rodney was born April 15, 1959 in Golden B.C. the youngest of 4 children of Henry and Anna Nielsen. In 1969 the family moved to Nanaimo. After graduating NDSS in 1977 he went to work at IPD and worked there till the mill closed in 2006.
His most recent job was driving bus for the RDN. He was most passionate about his family, mainly his children and grandchildren. Rod also loved tinkering in the yard and working on his various Mustangs and Ford pick up trucks.
He enjoyed camping, shopping at Costco, vacationing in Maui and talking to whomever he met anywhere.
A service will be held at Brechin United Church at 1 pm on Friday January 12th.
