1937-2021 ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodger Edward James Christle on June 19, 2021 at the age of 83, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria with his wife, Shirley, and step-daughter, Donna, at his side.
Rodger was born in Brandon, Manitoba, in 1937. He was predeceased by his mother, Pearl, (Sherman) and father Arthur Christle.
Survived by four children, his wife Shirley, and three step-daughters.
He entered our lives in the early 1980s, with a twinkle in his eyes and a good sense of humor. He worked for Winnipeg Hydro until retirement.
Following his retirement he and Shirley did a lot of travelling in Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. He enjoyed puttering in a mobile home as a summer escape at Winnipeg Beach for a few years before moving to Nanaimo in 2003 where he soon gathered a group of good and supportive friends who met for occasional dinners and happy hour.
He was a great lover of dogs – to him there was never a bad or ugly dog – they were all beautiful.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA, or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
