July 20, 1964 - September 15, 2019
Robert (Rob) Louis Jenks, 55, of Nanaimo, passed away on Sunday 15 September surrounded by
his family and the gentle care of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) Palliative Care staff. Although born in St. Boniface, Manitoba (20 July 1964), he grew up and spent most of his life in southern British Columbia: Victoria, Greater Vancouver, and lastly, Nanaimo.
He was an electrician by trade, graduating from BCIT in 1992, and was proud of his professional accomplishments, and the colleagues he developed lasting relationships with. Outside of work, Rob was passionate for vintage automobiles (e.g., 1957 Chevrolet), a fan of sports, and playing golf, especially with his Uncle's whom he shared a special connection with. He was, and will continue to be, tremendously proud of his two sons', Bradley and Ryder.
Predeceased by his father, Robert, he is survived by his loving and beautiful wife, Laurie; his mother, Gloria; his sisters, Niki (Darrel) and Kori (Louis); his aunt and uncle's, Irene (Len), Barry (Marilyn), and Larry (Coleen) Lechner; and the relationships he developed through his career, those he met through his sons' sporting endeavours as well as his community coaching efforts.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who supported Rob through his short, but strong, fight with cancer: family and friends; Dr. Daniel Ontko; Dr. Richard Cone; the wonderful nurses at NRGH's Palliative Care Unit; Nanaimo Hospice; and everybody else who cared for him. He was truly grateful for all the love and support he received.
The family will not be having an open funeral service; however, welcomes outreach to share memories and offer condolences.
