Our dad took peaceful leave of his earthly body, Saturday, March 27, 2021, to be reunited with his beloved wife of 73 years, Dorothy (mom); his parents and siblings; his many friends; and numerous, cherished dogs.
He was from a time when you learned to do any-and-every-thing yourself.
A master carpenter, electrician, and plumber; he built several houses, our summer cottage, our water ski boat, the boathouse and the docks.
Born in Ontario and a true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish; and to just be outside. He and mom were avid curlers and enjoyed a rich social life within the milieu. Great card players and dancers, they rotated from one house to another for regular fun on Saturday nights.
Strong and athletic throughout his life, he taught all of us to ski and to waterski. In fact, he patiently taught pretty much all of our cousins and lake friends to waterski.
The youngest son in his family; he was the only one to get a degree. He was smart, curious, adventurous and educated. He wore his engineer's ring with pride, his entire life.
He worked at Falconbridge Nickel Mines as an Efficiency Expert, and a house builder on the side, throughout our childhood.
While in the army he was stationed in Nanaimo, and the ocean called to him until 1966, when we relocated.
In BC he worked as a realtor for Nanaimo Realty, and a few other agencies until he retired.
Retirement brought out the grandpa in him. He love-love-loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and was thrilled when a boy child finally arrived in our family. (Ethan)
He was crazy about all holidays, and the attendant family gatherings, and traditions.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Sandra, Sharyn, and Robin; Granddaughters: Courtenay; Jessica, Great-Grandson, Ethan, Great-Granddaughters, Ruby and Alice; and Granddaughter, Kate, her husband, Caine and Great-Granddaughter, June.

With love in our hearts, we wish you godspeed; RIP Robert (Bob) Joseph Pilotte
