Robert Elliott SOWDEN

Sowden, Robert Elliott, F.C.B.A (born Beamsville Ontario, June 12, 1917) passed quietly into God’s hands on October 22, 2002 at Nanaimo Region al General Hospital. Predeceased by his first wife, Helen Jean Sowden, second wife Jean Stephenson and grandson Gregory Ro bert Crocker, he is survived by his sister, Joan Mc L. Rog ers (Nor man), daughters Janet L. Crocker, Peggy Sowden (David Thomson), son Douglas Robert Sowden (Adeline), grandchildren Gary Crocker (Trudy), Geoff Crocker, Peter Sowden (Leanne), Shamis Skye Robert Thomson, great grandchildren Kevin, Brian, Heather and Fiona and by many friends. “Bob” Sowden had a distinguished career in banking from 1934 to 1977 with a break for RCAF war service from 1941-1945. For many years he was active in service clubs and various Anglican parishes. An athlete from an early age, he enjoyed track, foot ball, rug by and cricket. Bob also loved camping, hiking, golfing and fishing. He was an accomplished bridge player. A Memorial service was held at St. Philips’s by-the-Sea, Lantzville, BC on Tuesday, Oc tober 29th at 2 pm. Interment at Gabriola Cemetary.
