Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family as he had wished. Bob was a devoted and loyal husband to Carolyn, father to Jim (Kelly), Karen (Mark) and grandfather to Zoe, Bea, Noah and Leah. He is survived by his sister Valerie. Born in Camrose, Alberta, Bob moved west with his parents and grew up in New Westminster, graduating from Duke of Connaught high school. He went on to earn a B.Comm from UBC and subsequently obtained his CGA designation. He married his beloved Carolyn in Vancouver in 1964. He worked as an accountant for MacMillan Bloedel and Pacific Kenworth before moving his young family to Nanaimo in 1972 to start work at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. In 1978 he and Carolyn purchased a cabin on Hornby Island where many happy summers were spent with friends and family. He was generous with his time and skills volunteering and serving as Treasurer for both Brechin United Church and the Kiwanis Sunrisers for many years. Bob was a keen follower of the news and current events, often keeping up to date with his trusty old AM radio. He was an avid conversationalist and enjoyed lively discussions around the dinner table and at family gatherings. In retirement, Bob and Carolyn traveled widely with friends and family including trips to Eastern Europe, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, to the UK with Neil, Sharon, and Doug Henderson, and several cruises with Dorothy Phelps. Bob was an avid sports fan and had an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball history and statistics. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
