Richard Mountford Bibbs
Born 1921, passed peacefully July 15, 2010. Beloved of his wife Nancy; his daughter Susan (Ed); his sons David (Kerry), and Hugh (Susan); predeceased by his daughter Julie in 2004, and his sister Patricia in 2009; beloved of his grandchildren: Kristin, Jordan, Laura (Neil), Bonnie (Jon), Peter, Katie, Tyler (Tipkamon), Tessa and Josh; and four great grandchildren: Tarkia, and Tenisha, John and Julia.
He was a life-long example of integrity, accomplishment, and kindness. He was BC Hydro Project Manager in the initial stages of the Peace River Dam, and negotiated the contract known as the BC Hydro Accord. Later, he was Vice President, Industrial Relations, at MacMillan Bloedel. He also served nine years on the UBC Board of Governors.
He and Nancy retired to Vancouver Island for 30 years for a complete change of pace, enjoying grandchildren, church, gardening and friends.
A private Funeral Mass and a family gathering at home was held Wednesday, July 21st at his request. The family wishes to thank, in great appreciation of the loving care he was given, all the staff at Wexford Creek Long Term Care facility, and also our family doctor, Dr. Helmut Mark.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all of us.
