September 26, 1935 - June 28, 2018
Long time Lantzville resident Richard Henry Moe passed away on June 28th. A lover of the ocean, mountains and forest, Richard's life was full of adventure.

Born in Davidson, Saskatchewan, to Magna and Henry Moe, the family moved to BC in 1937. Richard graduated from Vancouver Technical School in 1953. In 1957, Richard completed Grade 13 at King Edward High where he met his future wife, Joanne.

Richard and Joanne married on July 30, 1960 in Vancouver and raised three children: Ingrid, Karen and Jeffrey. When asked what he was most proud of, Richard responded: "With the help of my dear wife, Joanne, having successfully raised three children."

Richard was a union carpenter. He worked on many jobs in Vancouver such as The Oak Street Bridge. He also helped build the W.A.C Bennett Dam and contributed to much of BC's industrial infrastructure.

Richard became a superintendent and, after moving to Lantzville in 1976, he was a partner in Robinson Contracting where he worked until retirement. He was highly respected and was known for his friendliness and expertise. Richard was a strong union supporter and passionately believed in worker's rights.

Richard's love of family and his career were always complemented by his love for the BC outdoors. An avid skier, hiker and kayaker, Richard's sense of adventure was verging on relentless! He always wanted to climb the highest mountain, ski the most thrilling slopes and his enthusiasm for kayaking will be long remembered by his comrades. Richard also loved sailing and visited most islands in the Salish Sea. Richard and Joanne travelled to many countries, their last being Norway-the country of his ancestors.

Richard leaves behind his wife Joanne, his three children Ingrid Price, Karen Moe and Jeffrey Moe, his daughter and son-in-law Gwyn Moe and Willard Price and his grandchildren, Evan and Reid Price, Alex, Hunter and Elizabeth Moe. Richard's fun-loving personality, passion for nature, ethic of hard work, adventurous spirit (and lest we forget that movie star smile!) will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Richard's Life will be celebrated on August 11, 2 to 5 pm, Costin Hall, Lantzville.

The family welcomes donations to The Alzheimer Society of BC in lieu of flowers.
