August 22, 1932 - February 3, 2019
Raymond Jakobs was born on the 22nd of August, 1932 in Berlin, Germany and died on the 3rd of February, 2019 in Parksville, BC. He was predeceased by his parents, Alma Margarete (nee Knoeffler) and Josef Jakobs; sister, Regine Jakobs; and brother, Norbert Jakobs. Raymond is survived by his children, Giselle/ Gigi Jakobs (Anne Taylor) of Nanaimo, BC and Pamela Jakobs (Craig Fulker) of Vancouver, BC; granddaughter, Rose; and ex-spouse, Hildegard (nee Buchholz) Jakobs.
Ray immigrated to Canada in 1955 and settled in Terrace, BC where he worked at Pohle Lumber (and its successors) until the mid-1980s. Ray then moved to Edmonton where he worked at Kantrux Lumber and Liberty Tax for many years. In 2013, he moved to Nanaimo to be closer to his kids and to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. Ray was a life-time member of the Kinsmen Club.
