WILSON: Ralph Cook

Ralph passed away peacefully at Dufferin Place Nursing Home on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the Age of 103 years. Born in Broughton Moor, Maryport, Cockermouth, County of Cumberland, England on Nov.17, 1906. Predeceased by his wife Jean in 2002. Leaves his children: Bob (Sue); daughter MaryEllen; grand children; Mark (Jodi), Jan (Scott), Carli-Jean (Erik), Jeff (Sarah); 8 great-grand children, numerous nephews and nieces.

Ralph immigrated to Nanaimo in 1924 as a 17 year old. He worked in the Nanaimo Mines from 1924 to 1946. Also in that time he did some Commercial fishing and one year in the Peace River. In 1946 he went to work at the Pacific Biological Station, working on stream salmon and retired in 1971.

He was a lifetime member of Nanaimo Fish & Game; 80 year member of the OddFellow Lodge and a member of Bowen Park Lawn Bowling.

Funeral services to be held Friday May 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at First Memorial 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo. Reception follows at site. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Nanaimo & District Fish & Game Protective Association for Land Acquisition Fundraising support or charity of your choice.
