Phoebe Myrle Weston
September 1, 1922 - June 8, 2011
Myrle passed away in her sleep at Nanaimo Travellers Lodge at 88 years of age with her daughter by her side. Loving mother of Carol, Allynn (Gary) and Michael. Loving grandmother of Kelly, Edward (Gerri), Steven (Robin) and Tracy. Loving great-grandmother of 4 great-grandchildren. Myrle was predeceased by 6 brothers, and is lovingly remembered by her sister Eleanor, brother Carman (Joan) and sister-in-law Colleen. Aunt Myrle was greatly loved by numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed.
Myrle was a woman who worked hard all her life and who was very generous to numerous family members and others with her wisdom, compassion and finances. She worked for many years as a customs officer and retired from the federal government in 1987. She looked after her own home until 2008 when she could no longer manage on her own.
We would like to thank Dr. T. Davies for his care of mom for many years, and also Zelwho came to know mom in the last year and who helped and cared for her in many ways. Very special thanks to the staff at Travellers Lodge who provided so much care, compassion and nurturing to mom, and who really enjoyed mom’s feisty sense of humour. We could not have asked for more.
As was her wish Myrle has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be planned for sometime in July. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nanaimo Travellers Lodge (www.nanaimotravellerslodge.com) by anyone wishing to do so.
