Penny passed away in the Palliative Care unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Penny was born in Brandon, Manitoba, and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. She began her career as a dental assistant in Winnipeg. She moved to Nanaimo in 1968 and continued in her chosen profession with Dr. MacMillan, Dr. Tessari, and lastly with Rutherford Dental Clinic under Dr. Robichaud. Her many patients and coworkers will remember her fondly. Predeceased by her father Wray Darragh in 1992 and sister Karna Staton in 2001, Penny leaves in passing her loving husband Bernie Thomson, mother Minnie Darragh, sister Judy Borserio (Larry), sister-in-law Ev Sands (Claude), step-son Dwayne Thomson (Sheelagh), step-grandchildren Kellen and Riley, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service for Penny will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2006 at 2:00pm, First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo. Flowers are gratefully declined.
