Penelope Margaret (Penny) Fulla

June 5, 2017

1944 - 2017

Penny was born in Saskatchewan in 1944 and passed away peaceful on June 5, 2017 in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Penny was predeceased by her husband Fred, her parents Jessie and Cliff Main, her step-mom Stella, and her siblings Ruth and Murray. She is survived by her step-son Ritchie, granddaughter Gina, grandson Dean, nieces Alison, Cathy, Jennifer and Pauline and nephew Ted as well many extended family members and close friends.

Penny was very proud of her prairie roots. Growing up in a small town she perfected her renowned baseball and curling skills. Penny also loved fishing and just being out on the water was a special treat. Cooking however was not one of her attributes, she was famous for bringing “the buns” to any potluck. She chose teaching as her first career and taught for many years in Nanaimo where she met her husband Fred who she married in 1971. Always adventuresome after teaching she tried her hand at real estate before opening her own home based video transfer business, Fulla Video Creations. Once she retired Penny travelled whenever she had the opportunity. She’d often say she travelled to meet people, not for the scenery.

Penny was fun-loving with a wicked sense of humor. Her nieces will always remember how impressed they were that their Aunt drove a purple Mustang blasting Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck back in the 70’s. People loved and gravitated to Penny. She had a kind heart and always found time to really listen and be there for her friends.

Penny’s love of animals included her last close companion, a particularly goofy cat named Bob. She dealt with many serious health issues over the last few years, she faced them stoically and never complained. Penny’s last several years were spent at Long Lake Chateau. She will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched, including her special Oxy Pub friends.

Rest in peace Penny, you truly lived your life your way.
