CARR, Pauline Marie

December 29, 1918 to June 27, 2011

Our darling mother passed away peacefully on June 27, 2011. She will be lovingly remembered as having the “joie de vivre” and in her own words enjoyed a wonderful life with no regrets”. Mom loved unconditionally.

Predeceased by her husband Alfred (Red) Carr on May 16, 1990 Pauline is survived by her son Gene Carr, her daughter Caran Carr, son-in-law John Hickman, dear friend Henry Rosse, uncle Bennie Monteleone, nephew Bernie and Ev Monteleone and niece Viv and Norm Hyssop.

Pauline was born on December 29, 1918 in Nelson to Eugene and Yvonne Stangherlin and she was the eldest of three children.

In 1938 she married Red Carr and a year later they moved to Nanaimo when Red joined the Nanaimo Clippers Hockey Team.

Mom and dad owned and operated Red Carr’s Arena Service Station or “hockey central” for many years. The garage was the hub where friends from all walks of life gathered for lively conversation and good coffee.

Red and Pauline loved their community and they both contributed greatly with their time and their resources. Also, Pauline was the President of the Nanaimo Altrusa Club for two consecutive years.

The family thanks Dr Davina Kazanowski, who took great care of mom and the kind and attentive staff at Wexford Creek. Pauline considered them all her friends.

Mom, you are deeply loved and you will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

A celebration of life will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20 at the Sands Funeral Chapel.
